Father's Day Card

Greetings Bloglandians! I put together a quick Father's Day card this week, and it ended up with a lot of distressed edges, which just happens to be the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge this week! I hadn't really planned on entering any challenges this week, so this card was a bit of a happy accident. So here's the card:

Supplies used: Core'dinations dark and light green cardstock, Tim Holtz Retro Grunge paper stack, Regal Flourishes Texture Fade, Distress Inks (Forest Moss, Vintage Photo, Antique Linen), Tim Holtz Paper Distresser, Crafty Secrets Favorite Fellas stamp set, Archival Ink (Coffee)

This was actually a pretty easy to make card. The base is the dark green Core'dinations paper, which I embossed with the Texture Fade and then sanded to bring out more of the core. I also distressed the edges but did not ink them because I liked the core color on the edges as well. The edges of all the embellishment pieces were also distressed and inked with Forest Moss, except for the cream pieces which were grunged up with Antique Linen and then edged with Vintage Photo. The image and sentiment were stamped with the Coffee Archival. I mentioned in an earlier post that I needed to get my hands on this ink, and I'm so glad I did. I practically fell out of my chair when I saw how well it went with the Distress Inks. This stuff is beautiful! =)

I think that's it. After distressing and inking I just added the twine (no idea where this is from, it's been in my ribbon/fiber stash for ages) and glued everything down.

Thanks for looking, and a hope all the dads out there have a great Father's Day!

I Love This

I'm going to depart from the usual topics in this post, because I really wanted to post some of the photos I took of my veggie garden and flowers. I think I may finally have everything planted, and now I can just sit back and watch them grow. I took a bunch of pictures now and hopefully I can take more as things get bigger and maybe make an album showing how my garden "grew up". =) Without further ado, here's some of my favorite photos.

It's possible that I'm wrong, but this might just be the cutest thing ever. =)

This is a side view of the veggie beds we made along the side of the garage. (Travis built the beds, and I planted them)

A close-up of my quickly growing lettuce. I think the different colors are so pretty.

These pea plants are holding hands. =)

A close-up of one of my solar lights. One of these days I'll get a shot of it when it's on. =P

I think that's all for today. I absolutely love my plants. It's so relaxing to go out at the end of the day and check up on them and see how much they've grown. =)
